Phonathon Student of the Week: Alex, Class of 2013

Every Tuesday, we’ll profile one of the amazing Phonathon students working in UMBC’s Call Center. This week, say hello to…

Alex, Class of 2013
Hometown: Severn, MD
Major: Economics

What’s your favorite thing about being a caller? My favorite thing about being a Phonathon Caller is getting to talk to alumni and having them share their stories and experiences about being a UMBC student.

Why did you choose UMBC?  I came to UMBC because I like the close-knit atmosphere and the focus on academics that it boasted.

How are you involved on campus?  My organization, Splash! UMBC sent several me and a few other representatives to MIT to teach and help run a national event geared towards high school students.  Splash! UMBC will be held on campus to help high school students explore college life.  It’s all about the experience of being in a classroom environment and having fun!

Do you have a favorite spot on campus?  I really like the Retriever Learning Center because it’s a great place to study and relax.

What are your plans for after UMBC? After graduation, I plan to work for the government or the military.
